Dustin Rose

Apprentice Therapist

Dustin Rose (He/Him) is a Master's Candidate heading into his final year of school studying Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Contemplative Psychotherapy and Buddhist Psychology at Naropa University.

Dustin takes a client-centered approach to counseling. He holds that every person possesses inherent good-ness and believes that cultivating a client’s agency is paramount in the therapeutic process. He strives for the goal-creation process to be a collaborative one shared between him and the folks he works with. He hopes to create an environment of warmth, non-judgment, trust, and safety that supports clients as they explore both the painful and the joyful aspects of their experiences.

What motivates Dustin as a therapist is the desire to support folks in finding more ease as they process and navigate their own unique life experiences. Whether processing a traumatic event (or events) or working with challenges that daily life brings—Dustin finds satisfaction in supporting folks as they gain a greater sense of self-compassion, agency, empowerment, and choice in how they live their lives.

Dustin is currently studying to complete his Masters in Mental Health Counseling. He is particularly interested in working with folks experiencing religious trauma, folks in the LGBTQIA+ community and other under-resourced populations, and those navigating social anxiety, anxiety, and depression. People who feel curious about their own experience and are willing to reflect on themselves, their beliefs, their actions, and how those things are either bringing them closer to or further away from alignment with who they want to be and how they want to live may benefit from connecting with Dustin.

Dustin spent one year in Argentina, has a degree in Spanish Language and Literature, and as part of his volunteer work, has helped translate legal documents to assist volunteer lawyers representing kids at the US/Mexico border. While his speaking fluency is not as strong as it once was, he hopes to utilize the level of comprehension he does have to support Spanish-speaking clients however he can.

Some of Dustin's favorite things are slow mornings, move nights with his partner and cat, reading a good book, a nice weekend camping trip, and playing board and/or video games with friends.
