is The khesed Internship right for you?

Khesed is derived from Hebrew and is often translated as “loving kindness, especially for people on the margins.”

Khesed believes in empowering new therapists by providing a unique and challenging internship experience for graduate students poised to enter the field of counseling.  Our team of interns, or apprentices, work together in fulfilling Khesed’s mission of providing high-quality affordable mental health and wellness services for the underinsured.

The apprenticeship program is a 12-month commitment geared toward helping students develop their professional identity. Apprentices are given freedom and structure to work with diverse populations, amongst a vibrant team of professionals, toward a common purpose. Cohorts begin in January and June of every year with the possibility of staying on as contract therapists after graduation. *If determined to be a good fit upon graduation.

What Makes Us Different

Khesed’s internship program does more than check a box for graduate students. We help prepare students for a career in mental health therapy with a 10 module curriculum focused on personal restoration, clinical expertise, and business acumen. Monthly meetings help students process what it means to become a therapist. Our available remote and hybrid programs foster personal and professional development and empower students with the tools they need to be successful.

“I highly recommend Khesed’s apprenticeship program. I was looking for an internship experience that would offer me a balance of independence, flexibility, and support. This is exactly what I received, making Khesed an ideal internship placement for someone who is on the path towards private practice. Khesed offers many opportunities for professional development, such as various trainings and consultations that have immensely enriched my professional development. I have experienced the individuals that make up Khesed as kind, authentic, resourceful, knowledgeable, and genuinely supportive.”
