Kayla Nelson

Contract Therapist, Supervisor Candidate

Kayla Nelson, LPC (She/Her) is a Licensed Professional Counselor, EMDR certified, and has advanced training in EMDR, IFS, and ACT. Kayla has a Master's in Community Counseling, a Bachelor's in Psychology, and has worked in the mental health field for 15 years.

Kayla loves to help people have a better relationship with themselves, let go of past traumas, and be able to move forward in authentic ways. Kayla invites people to have compassion for themselves and others. Kayla also is often thinking about the therapeutic relationship, our relationships to each other, to humanity, and to the systems we exist in. When people have a good relationship with themselves, they are able to have great relationships with others, and do good things in the world. Kayla loves that therapy can be a springboard for this and make a difference in the world around us.

Kayla specializes in working with people with complex trauma, LGBTQ+ people, and people who are socially anxious. Kayla often works with people who identify as people pleasers, perfectionists, and neurodivergent. Kayla's ideal client is someone who is ready for change, has tried a lot on their own, and is not sure how to get where they want to be. These clients are often ready to get to the root of things and make lasting changes.

Kayla enjoys the Colorado outdoors, mountain biking, snowboarding, camping, and reading good books. Kayla loves spending time with her partner, dogs, and chickens.
