Joan Schunck

Pre-Licensed Therapist

Joan has a Master's in Counseling in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor's in German and math. Joan is a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate in Colorado. Joan creates a friendly, grounded atmosphere in the counseling room and invites her clients to speak from the heart about where they find themselves in life and how the current reality might not match their needs, values, or goals. Together, Joan and her client explore the map of the client's current experience and look for pathways, bridges, and tunnels to a more secure, connected, and rewarding way of being.

Joan recognizes the power of human connection, and how one-to-one connection between client and counselor can transform how we relate to ourselves, each other, and the world. Discovering moments of connection and following those sparks out into the world is a source of sacred joy.

Joan specializes in grief and loss, life transitions, and mental health wellness. People who are feeling adrift, isolated, or stuck and want to discover a path forward to connectedness, purpose, and joy may benefit from partnering with Joan. Joan has two years of experience in individual and group grief counseling, with adults, adolescents, and children, who come from all walks of life and have experienced many different types of loss. Joan's best days are ones when she can sleep late, solve word puzzles, connect with family or friends, and rewatch a favorite movie from the 80s or 90s.
