Amber Ortiz

Apprentice Therapist

Amber is earning her Master's in Sport and Performance Psychology at The University of Denver and holds a Bachelor's in Health Sciences and Education.

Amber strives to create a collaborative space where your whole self is welcome and met with empathy, respect and understanding. She hopes to foster a psychologically safe environment to face challenges, develop coping strategies, identify strengths, values and embrace your authentic self. She has a relational approach and focuses on the holistic person while actively meeting clients where they are at. Amber is energized by cultivating connection and curiosity while inviting you to share perspective, work through experiences, and rewrite unhelpful narratives.

Amber specializes in working with athletes and performers, high risk personnel (military, firefighters), college-aged students (academic and career counseling), first generation immigrants, refugees (global trauma), gender exploration (trans-affirming), mindfulness-based work, confidence and self-worth, composure, stress management, self-regulation, ADHD, and anxiety. Anyone looking to deepen their understanding of self and be the author of their own story may find Amber to be a good fit.

Amber is passionate about increasing access to mental health and mental performance services on a global level and finds her lived experience as a first-generation Mexican American informing her work. Amber is a Registered 200-Hour Yoga Instructor and is currently teaching trauma-informed yoga to refugee and immigrant youth populations at a local non-profit.

Outside of work, when she's not taking photos or chasing a sunset, you can find Amber enjoying her early morning yoga, catching up with an old friend, or jamming out to her new Spotify playlist on a last minute road trip.
