Regis Student Pro Bono Program

Our hearts are with the students, faculty, and families of Regis University after the loss of two students in October. We can help. Khesed received a grant to provide free mental health therapy to 50 Regis University students.

Participants must meet the following qualifications:

  • Appropriate for outpatient therapy

  • Appropriate for no more frequent than weekly sessions

  • Participant is enrolled as a student at Regis University

Each participant will receive 12 free sessions. Upon completion of the program, participants have the option to continue services through our other ongoing affordable or free programs. Complete our intake form to get started with one of our therapists, and contact us with any questions.

How does suicide impact college students?

According to a report by BestColleges, here are the facts:

  • Suicide is one of the leading causes of death among college students.

  • In 2022, 2% of college students surveyed said they had attempted suicide in the past year, an increase from reports from 2007-2021.

  • Transgender and nonbinary students report far higher rates of suicide-related thoughts and behaviors than cisgender students.

  • Almost a third of LGBTQIA+ college students (30%) had thoughts of suicide during the past year — nearly double the rate of straight students (16%). 35% of LGBTQIA+ college students say the expense of mental health assistance has prevented them from seeking treatment.

  • Pacific Islander, Native American, and Black college students report higher suicide attempt rates than students of other races.

  • Suicide is preventable. Colleges can work to reduce the stigma of getting help, end discrimination against certain student groups, and eliminate barriers to culturally sensitive mental health care.
